This is why people need to stop acting like white women need representation. They ALWAYS win out, even when the media makes it look like the director wants to go with a woman of color. Just cast yet another white woman in a universe where main women of color are next to non existent. But yay, “female representation” right?
Jesus I was just ranting about this on twitter. I didn’t realize she was taking the role over the WoC (albeit lightskinned) they were looking at. If she’s playing Sana I’ll… be really sad and not go see the movie, despite Donald GLover, assuming I live through enough of the Trump administration to get that far.
I like Emilia, but yikes on multiple fronts. They didn’t exactly test great actors for the lead female role to be honest, but Tessa is a better actress than Emilia.
When I was a kid… I asked my grandpa once if he ever killed any Germans in the war. He wouldn’t answer. He said that was grown-up stuff. So… so I asked if the Germans ever tried to kill him. But he got real quiet. He said he was dead the minute he stepped in to enemy territory. Every day he woke up and told himself. “Rest in peace. Now get up and go to war.” And then after a few years of pretending he was dead… he made it out alive. That’s the trick of it, I think. We do what we need to do and then, we get to live. But no matter what we find in DC, I know we’ll be okay. Because this is how we survive. We tell ourselves… that we are the walking dead.
